Default UMC sells shares of ProMOS

United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC)'s announcement that it has sold common shares of ProMOS Technologies again drew speculation about the intentions of the company. Some industry players interpreted the move as UMC making money off an investment while others suggested that UMC might be upset by ProMOS's recent announced convertible bonds (CBs) issuing.
