Now that most Motherboards come with Sata Controllers, we would like to know how many are using Sata, and if you think they are better than the old Pata Hard Disks.

I have had problems with Seagate units... 500 GB, and a 1 Terabyte unit went back in less than 30 days, it kept losing information and would not boot an operating system, had to be RMA... The 500 gig lasted 3 months, the I currently have 3 Western Digital Sata units running...

They are Sata drives feel faster in my humble opinion... I also have a few IDE units still running, but I have lost a good number of Maxtor, Seagate, and Western Digital units over the years. Samsung, and Hitachi brands I avoid because of all the troubles, i have experienced in the past...

I believe Seagate & Western Digital needs a stand alone Linux live CD tool, formatter and diagnostic CD, rather than a windows only diagnostic tool...

So, if I were to get a 1.5 Terabyte ext storage, you would recommend Western Digital?
