That is why we have cloud storage.

Do you see data centres switching to SSD ? Perhaps but it is not 100% switch over. It is probably a small percentage. Customers data are equally or more important than your own.
"Smart" phones die because people are idiots & they beat the piss out of everything and break about everything they touch, Don't drop that...WHAT??

There are plenty of Enterprise SSDs in use, you must really not keep up on the stuff like you used to BT....

Most back ups go to tape - and you may, but I don't have one BIT or BYTE of any of my stuff in "Cloud" storage, just another scam to fleece the unknowing. There are enough people trying to steal my information & data already!
Any phone has a MicroSDC slot which is FLASH storage, from 4-32GB so the internal storage can be mirrored and if you "forget" to back up files that are valuable to yourself, then "stupid is as stupid does".....
That works identically the same for a HDD as SSD as Cloud as NAS...

It may be goodbye to files somebody didn't back up - but nobody can take my memories, don't confuse the two please......
I added 10-15 pictures to a directory on my SSD last night - I should have already backed them up to ewxternal HDD today... but I still have copies on another flash media as well as the phone...

LMAO!!!
Today's word of wisdom is....
REDUNDANCY

Cloud storage is fine so long you know how to protect it. Backing up HDD is still the best solution.

I have friends who runs data centre, he used SSD and ended up dumping them as it is unreliable. He switched back to enterprise HDD totally.

When I use things, I go for price/performance and for storage, MTBF. So SSD is no where near the traditional HDD.

Backups don't go to tape anymore, you are older than me :)

Once you upload anything to "Cloud" it is no longer in your hands to protect, and no longer is in your possession to be called "yours" - good luck getting it back!

Backups DO go to tape - my company, and/or out offsite data center uses it.
I am older than you - but I embrace new technology - live within it's limitations and intended usage...
Your friend used cheap consumer SSD with Sandforce controller!!LOL!!
Too cheap to buy Enterprise SSDs...LOL
I have been meaning to hang another TB HDD in this case, but if it's in external - it runs much les and is more likely to "Start" when I push the button on it's long ten year journey....
I feel better now, I just backed up my 15 pictures to external HDD so I can sleep well - now I have only 4 copies.

Maybe I should put a 5th copy on my SDC in my 52 in 1 card reader too??

How many Quantum HDD do you have??
