I was able to use a Plugable USB 2.0 Ethernet Adapter (Model USB2-E100). The same slow connection to internet access occurred. I guess that rules out the ASRock onboard LAN being the problem. Does this take me out of the scope of this board? If so, can you at least point me in a useful direction to try and fix this problem? If not, what should I try next?

I’m not sure what you mean by network protocols. I haven’t changed any network settings or anything other than the networked computers running as a standard users on Windows 7 Home Premium (all PC’s on the network).
The routers in question are as follows. I started off with a Netgear WNR1000v2 (it came with the cable modem). The reason I bought a new router was due to this slow connection problem (it might not have been the router after all). I purchased an Asus RT-AC56U. It had connectivity issues from the moment I got it (not just the slow connection problems). I am currently trying to get that fixed under warranty. Since then I got a Netgear WNDR3400 (which is the active router on the network). No problems with it. Hope this is what you were looking for.

What other devices are connected to the router
Through wired and wireless connections.

Wired connections:
HTPC (custom built PC with ASRock Motherboard)
Acer Aspire V3-731-4439 Laptop
Dell Studio XPS 8100
Wireless connections:
iPad 3rd Generation
Roku 2 XS
Dell M2010 Laptop (not connected all the time)
Samsung Note 3 (seldom connected)
Logitech Revue (recently added due to problems with HTPC)
Chromecast (recently added due to problems with HTPC)
The Logitech Revue and Chromecast weren’t connected during most of the problems. I only recently added those. They haven’t impacted the results however

FWIW, I forgot to mention that I also have Virtualbox 4.3.10.0 and VMWare Player 6.0.2-1744117 installed on this box.
