Raven,
Try (re-setting cmos) then .... use only one dimm/memory stick and also backing off your memory timings in your new bios ...... set the DRAM timing to "Safe mode" ..... I have had some similiar problems with the Amptron K7-841XLM version of this mb, with Win2KPro.
In my experience, the error message you get does not always indicate the exact cause of the problem, just sometimes indicates the resulting symptom!
If no improvement, go to 100/100MHz FSB/CPU settings to underclock your system ..... just while trying to install your os .......?
I am also looking back through my floppy disks to see if I saved an original bios from the K7-841XLM.
Up-date:
Peter - I found the disk with the following files:
020206s.rom
AMINF332
These are from my Amptron K7-841, I think they are the originals, but I'm not 100% sure.
If you want to try them after the above suggestions, I will email them to you ....... no guarantee's though (of course), use them at your own risk!

Can't remember the version but i'm 99% sure it was dated back to february 2002.

The first bios file I sent Peter was the incorrect file (mis-labeled) however, I have since corrected the error ....... I think!

reset bios to default settings
this is a very late response. but I ran into the same problems today trying to reactivate my old K7SOM board. I've tried all available bios's as well - finally I just set the bios settings back to the "best perform defaults" and the acpi-error was gone. Maybe this info is still useful for somebody, although this thread is orphaned since 8 years.
