Anybody using SU810714.BIN dated on 2005/7/14?
I could not use it. After flash of old BIOS, my machine could not boot up Windows XP because memory is not enough. On the first BIOS screen shot of display, Memory figure only appear 16384 KB but I’m using 1GB (512MBX2).
There is guy got same problem not only me.

Then I download again this BIOS file from CHAINTECH sight everyday.
I flashed everyday more than a week but still same problem happened.
Download and flash BIOS is became my routine work now.
I don’t know what going on. May be CHAINTECH engineering dept. sleeping for this problem or my skill is not enough same as Memory.

I’m using old BETA BIOS so far.

Which version of the BIOS is having this issue. Is it AMI or AWARD? Remember to flash including the bootblock and see if that helps.

I am having the same problem. I had 1gig(2x512)dual brand new and only would see one and could not loas winxp, but did load win98.
I havnt flashed the new BIOS yet because I sent back the Rams for new set, and waiting. I was looking to see if there is abetter version of BIOS for Chaintech S1689 since the manual only shows 239 MHZ FSB and only up to 9 multipliers.
I have found the same Uli1689 on Gygabyte GA-kU 939 falsh BIOS and same discrition but better overclocking. I was wonering if i could use that instead. Chaintech is so limited and not user freindly website. their manual is poorly written. I wish some people w/ influence take this up w/ them and tell them it is bad for the business, specially bad for Uli that has a new chip and entering into the competetion along w/ big boy's like nvidia. If You Bluetooth have time, check chaintech website and see how poorly it is being operating. Just read the manual on S1689 and you will see.
Other Mobo manufac. are presenting their product very professionally when it come to Nvidia. But Chaintech is messing it up for Uli. Foe what I know this Uli1689 is powerfull and overclock potential. But the BIOS is limited. At leat Gigabyte has n'tune for it. Chaintech need to have something like n'tune or upgrade the BIOS to overclock better.

The version of BIOS is 4.0 and file name is SU810714.BIN. It is AWARD BIOS and AWARD Flash Tool provided by CHAINTECH.

To Bella,
If you want overclocking, you had better buy other motherboard.
S1689 is not adjustable for overclocking. You can adjust only FSB.
The reasons why I bought S1689 because low price at that time and can use Dual Core Athlon64. There are no other reasons.

Good luck!!

Chaintech S1689 does not have a lock to make it lock AGp/PCI due to its clkgen.
