right i stoped using IE a few weeks ago (thanks rayven :D ) and am not VERY happy with firefox well worth the extra 2 second it takes to start up, BUT even tho Firefox is set as my default browser when i click the E-mail link whithin MSN messenger it still opens an IE windows to access hotmail!...is there anyway i can stop this cos within seconds of having IE running i get pop ups evryware and my bookmarks reorganised deleted and replaced by links to online casenos!!! IE sux and its crap the only think its any use for it Windowsupdate and then only cos u cant use it without!...

Your IE is infested.

I looked, but did not see anywhere in the options where you could pick the programs that will be launched, when you do things. It is probably hard coded into Messinger.

Everything MS is pretty tied to .net now, so that could be a reason why you can't use a different browser. You might want to look into Powertoys or other programs like that, as they may give you configuration settings that are normally hidden, or not available.
