Ok here is my problem. My brand new k7s5a's (with amd 1800+) bios refuses to boot up after a restart, shutdown, etc. The only way I have been able to get it to boot up again is to use the jumper to clear the cmos. I can then set it up to 133/133 and it will detect my 1800+ just fine and start up (sometimes), but any time it powers down it won't boot up again (power is there, just no video signal from the card, but there is HD activity). I upgraded my mobo bios to the newest ecs released one, but it still doesn't solve the problem. I have removed all the hds, cdroms, and pci cards and used serveral different vga cards, but the same thing happens. Is there any bios update that can help me? I am not a noob at building computers, this is the first time I've had a major problem with one. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If I can't get this fixed I'm going to send the mobo back and get a refund on it and buy an MSI jumperless. Those are the normal motherboards I use.
Here are my computer specs:
-K7S5A mobo
-AMD 1800+ processor
-256 MB ddr ram Ecc - tried two different chips, mwave brand and kingston
-newest motherboard official bios
-atx 300 watt power supply by Selection
-used 3 different video cards (geforce 2 MX, Geforce 2 Pro 64ddram, Geforce 4 4200)
-80GB western digital HD

Having to reset the BIOS everytime you want to start the PC seems like a very tedious way to do things. If you really want to have a K7S5A your next step is to buy or borrow a high quality PSU of at least 350 Watts and that may help. But then again it may not. Switching PSU's never made the least difference on mine.
What you can do in the meantime is just disconnect or remove everything but the vid card and the hard drive and see if it boots. If it does reconnect the floppy. Then reconnect the CD drive. And so on.

key point to mention...
ECC registered memory does NOT work on this board, see if you can change the stick over and I'm sure you will be fine

What OS? Win98 has a fast shutdown problem that can cause bad restarts.
