Getting off-topic here, but anyways...

As you know, RAID 0 (striping) offers no redundancy at all, so most users avoid booting/hosting the root filesystem on a RAID 0 device. That applies not only to software RAID but also to hardware RAID. Linux can boot from software RAID 1 (mirroring).

On modern K8/Xeon systems the use of software RAID 5 or above in a Linux system does not show any significant impact on CPU utilisation. But most people who actually use RAID 5 or above on Opteron/Xeon systems invest in a separate RAID controller card. [img]tongue.gif[/img]

What I meant by my initial remark is: Linux users who buy the Epox 9NDA3+ mainboard won't miss the hardware (assisted, not true hardware) RAID controller found in other, more expensive Epox boards.

Yes, Bluetooth, I agree with your opinion. But, as for performance comparison, I usually compare the following SuperPi results:

1.1M with all stock & default setting basis

2.1M with all stock & 2400—2466.66Mhz limited clock speed basis--so-called Athlon24-GP competition in Japan

3.1M & 8M with maxed out setting without any modification—using ClockGen, SetFSB & etc.
Recently, I add 32M with Prometeia &/ Vmod maxed out setting basis.

It was so nice to be in Greece for attending Opening Ceremony of Olympic Games; Judo & Swimming competitions especially witnessed 3 gold medals for Japan in first two days. [img]smile.gif[/img]

To me it looks like the gains you get from a whole entire speed grade jump (+200mhz) just by changing the FSB.

I am eager to check out an AMD 64 system in action but I don't know anybody locally who has one yet. Sure, there are some of the HP's, Compaq's, etc.. in the stores but you can't really do much with them there.

This EPoX sounds like a great board though so I look forward to hearing more about it as it gets in the hands of end users.

I probably won't upgrade to a 64 until sometime next year and will hopefully have a new EPoX socket A to keep me going for awhile. ;)
