I think the most annoying thing with that board was the lost c-mos problem that really pissed me off. But i agree this epox board is absolutely brilliant i havent had a single problem with it yet and ive had it for bout 2 months+.

ECS K7S5A to ECSK7S6A (with Promise ATA133 controller and 512MB KingMax DDR333).

tnx

BTW: The new Gigabyte KT333 board is looking good. The K7S6A is very stable, but not the BIOS has not been optimized to support it's full potential (dissappointment from ECS).

Hmmmm, definitely NO love for ECS here.

I just want to say that I LOVE the ECS K7S5A! I've built four systems with it, including the one I'm on right now. NO RMA's yet!

The only problem I had was the 1.4 Ghz Thunderbird/K7S5A incompatibility issue with one of the boards, so I installed a 1500+ XP instead.

And, the first day that the K7S6A went up on NewEgg's site, I ordered two of them! NO problems there either....well, except for the disappointing BIOS, which I'm sure will be fixed eventually.

I love the single chipset design from Sis. WAY better than VIA's design!

Best of luck to the rest of you!

me too, previously using ECS k7s5a with TB 1.4ghz, crucial pc2100 256MB, inno3d gf2mx400 64MB, seagate BIV 20gb etc... but it kept giving me the 'power on, fan spinning, no display' problem.

being frustrated with this stupid problem, i bought a epox 8kha+, match it with my original configuration, and then no such problem occur anymore...

I've also changed from an K7S5A to an 8KHA+ from Epox.

From four K7S5A one board died, the K7S5A is an fine board when it works but he quality from ECS and the ECS Service is realy bad, some boards working, some not.

The 8KHA+ need more power, so i changed my PSU to an Enermax.

What i can say is that i have no Probs with see 8KHA+, built a system, installed my Software and it works.

should be getting my epox today or tomorrow.

came from an ECS K7S5a TB 1.4, gf3, 512 DDR, 80GB Raid-0, Phillips AE. setup worked fine for 5 months then got the reboot->no vid issues, whenever got a new bios would not load windows correctly, the tech at ECS was VERY rude and not helpful. best wishes to those that got it to work but i am happy to say i will be leaving it behind.

First let me say that non defective k7s5a's are stable and fast , I use one for high-end video editing/capture , never even a hiccup....
BUT....
built 5 systems with k7s5a revisions 104,108,and 111 , and all 5 work great with 350 watt Antec's and quality ram (both "c" and "XP"), then bought number 6 and 7 and 6 had cold boot problem , and that was enough for me, I now believe some of the problems are inherent to the board and it's chipset....QC is non-existant at that price.

so what did I buy , and EPOX 8kha+ , my first epox . No burnin , just loaded 2k sp2 and crossed mt fingers , 24 hours so far no problems. Bought it because of the "stability" it has overclocked , should translate to very stable when run within spec. , which is my hope...will keep you posted.
