UEFI Default Loaded
I am using Asrock B85M-HDS. Recently, I was accidentally loaded UEFI defaults and the windows fail to start. I did tried to do the windows recovery but it also failed. Should I format windows? Please help.

Set the motherboard back to factory defaults and try again. The hard drive does not have an EFI boot module so UEFI will not work if it was Legacy formatted. Windows will appear broken if you switch formats when it's really not, only needs the right boot loader.

Can you explain more on how to set the motherboard back to factory default?
Because I didn't find anything about factory default in my Asrock Uefi Setup Utility. There are Main, OC Tweaker, Advanced, Tool, H/W monitor, Boot, Security, and Exit. I believe you know that. Sorry for my stupidity.

Actually when you did an F9 it reset everthing to factory UEFI default which is how it is setup when they ship the board. We need to determine if the correct Hard disk is set as the boot device and how was the CSM module configured when the OS was installed. First under the Boot Menu, check to see if the first hard disk selected is your C drive. Then tell us what options are set in the CSM module menu. Legacy is default if I remeber correct.

So with those settings UEFI mode is disabled for the hard drive and the video output. Do you recall if you disabled CSM when you installed the hard drive? You could try either to disable CSM or just enable the UEFI portion on the storage line.

check the Sata controller settings to see if you are in IDE, AHCI or Raid mode. Also what error do you get on the screen when you boot up?
