Default Transcend StoreJet 25C3N USB 3.0 Extra Slim Portable Hard Drive Unboxing and First Thoughts

Sometimes you want to bring with you most of your vital work files or just the videos and photos that accumulate over time. The Transcend StoreJet 25C3N Extra Slim USB 3.0 Portable Hard Drive offers a slim 1cm thin package with a large 1TB capacity – it’s definitely worth considering. Here’s my unboxing and first look.

The packaging is standard across Transcend’s product as the StoreJet 25C3N ships in that familiar white and red box with minimal highlights on the product features. More details on the highlighted features and specifications of the product can be found at the back of the box.

You’ll find 2 catalogues for Transcend’s products, warranty card, quick start guide, USB 3.0 cable, and the StoreJet 25C3N itself in the box.

The StoreJet 25C3N is compact, its metallic build feels sturdy in your hand, and the size of the drive will fit your shirt’s breast pocket – it’s that small.

The drive is plug and play and requires no additional drivers to work.

Plugged into a PC, you’ll discover that it has folders containing installers of Transcend Elite and RecoveRx, for back up and deleted file recovery, respectively. The StoreJet 25C3N comes in an NTFS format for Windows, so you’ll need to reformat it for OS X systems; and the AES 256-bit encryption requires the Transcend Elite software.

While the StoreJet 25C3N works on current USB ports on most laptops, it’s USB 3.0, which is faster than USB 2.0 write speeds.

People who work with portable PCs (small netbooks, compact laptops like the MacBook, 2-in-1 Windows tablets) designed to be light but compromise on storage will value the convenience the StoreJet 25C3N offers - fast, light, and big enough storage you won't hate to bring anywhere (it's so slim). For businessman who wants a professional looking portable hard drive, the StoreJet 25C3N will do just well. Its thinness and weight of only 9.95mm and 136g allows you to easily fit it in any brief case, making it a perfect companion for business trip.

The portability, ease of use, and adequate speed of the StoreJet 25C3N should be considered and are aspects that may matter to those who want to carry around their files. What’s more, its classy and professional looking Aluminum enclosure is great for giving a good first-time impression, especially to those who is in the business and creative industry.
