Nvidia... when I met Nforce2 based mobo's, I almost fell in love. In that time, It was the king of the mid and High end rigs. Even the cheapers mobos can peform excelent and OC a little al least, I always recomend Nforce before SiS and VIA.

Default SiS all the way

I haven't looked back at VIA since the KT133 days and never would pay for an *ntel board. I prefer stability over a few extra FPS so SiS it must be. Nvidia gets too hot and not as stable.

Once upon a time my choice was SiS... now that no one produces decent motherboard using their chipsets my preferred choice is Intel.

Intel, SiS, ATI, and I guess nVidia. Sadly ULI are no more, or they would be way up there. VIA should be cast to the fires of hell. I can't believe Intel has renewed their licence.

Chipsets for Intel:
For stability and features, I choose 965/P35/X38
For overclocking, I choose P35 or X38
For power consumption, I choose 965/P35
For hassle-free drivers, I choose any Intel chipset
For heating my room, I choose X38 or 680i ;)
For very bad Vista drivers which cause BSODs, corrupt data on SATA drives or cause GbE to be slower than 100mbit, I choose any NVidia chipset
For broken PCI/PCIe, latency problems, hopeless overclocking and poor overall performance, I choose Via
