The fix works, but not with every kind of memory. Don´t ask me why, but stuck an other brand of memory modules and was able to enable the fix.

I got the board on friday, today riped of the NB heatsink.
It also has the k8t800 non pro on it.
Haven't got the cpu yet, only on the end of the week.
Then will see if it has or hasn't the AGP/PCI lock.

If it doesn't work, where do i need to go to get a RMA on the board? i can't find the info for european ppl (i'm from PORTUGAL)

So the VIA K8T800pro isnt really a new chip at all, its the K8T800 with a fix for agp/pci locks??? Thats a marketing ripp off if you ask me,IMO. Im glad I went with the Nvidia NF3 250GB, definetly more worthy of being marketed as a whole new chip.

The Corsair is ok, at least for for me.

The Pro is indeed just a tuned K8T800, but you are still on the better side rather than with the Nforce 3 250. It´s just a Nforce 3 150 with some workarounds where many things are working now that were disabled previously, but still causing sometimes trouble. That´s also why ABIT didn´t want to use this chipset for their Mobos but prefered to use VIA.

I sort of disagree. The NF3 250 is more than just a bios update over the 150, It has surpassed the Via in many aspects, and its locks work.
Furthermore, I also sort of disagree with the idea that ABIT chooses VIA over Nvidia simply because its better. Plenty of motherboard makers have made great boards with the NF3 250, so thats an ABIT fault, not the fault of the chip. I think companies get tied to each other through agreements and such, otherwise these big name companies would have gone with SiS- if they were looking to use the best chipset for the A64. So i feel other things come into play.

Abit seems to be relying on reputation rather than product quality these day, they lost a lot of their good engineers a year or so back and this shows with their recent products. It is a shame we have no good ULi and SIS MBs to choose from, because they may well be better products. As you say, a case of Companies being locked into using Via and Nvidia for length of contracts :(

Never said it´s just a Bios update, but those who released Nforce 3 150 Mobos, simply are replacing this chip with the 250 because of it´s pin compability. The PCB is still exactly the same and the features are still realized by external controllers.

I´ve tried a few Nforce 3 250 Mobos before I came to this one and all sucked. Ok, the gaming performance is great as long you are using a Nvidia based videocard together with this chipset, but the rest isn´t that good.

If you ask me, I prefer a few less frames in my scores over a corrupted HD.
