AMD Phenom gets killed easily with high vdimm set
According to a reviewer who has been testing Phenom CPUs, he has killed 4 Phenom 9000 series CPU by applying just 2.3-2.5v to the vDIMM setting.
So, beware if you intend to o/c the Phenom, bumping up the voltage to 2.3v can easily kill the memory controller resulting in a dead CPU.

it doesn't make sens to me. vDIMM applies to memory modules only. memory controler is integrated with processor (in K8, K10) and CPU is powerd by vCore.

Tell me BT how many CPU's did you kill by adding to much vCore or how many memory modules by adding too much vDimm? Hang up during POST or BSOD in Windows thats all. I don't belive that Phenom is some kind diffrent at this point.
It's more like propaganda against Phenom.

the memory controller onboard the phenom processor has to communicate with the ram at the ram's signaling levels. if you increase ram voltage (and therefore, raise the signaling voltage), you also increase the signaling voltage the cpu memory controller receives.

It worked the same way for the K8's. But afaik none got killed by this. |

So Phenom is slow clocked and slow clock-for-clock vs Intel, doesn't overclock well, is easily killed with voltage, shelf stock has been recalled for a new revision following the discovery of a serious bug requiring a BIOS patch reducing performance by a further 10% to run stable, and is more expensive than Intel's equivalents at this stage?
I can see AMD are doing really well at the moment... Hmmm.

I think AMD had to rush the Phenom's out the door
before they were really ready... With the heavy Intel
competition I can understand why but, it's hurting them
more than helping...
Poor AMD is kind of between a rock and a hard place...

This was a known issue for K8. I'm not surprised at all since the K10 is based off the K8. Half of your VDIMM (VDD) enters the CPUs memory controller.
The memory controller is protected by diodes. If the VDD is too great, the diodes will fail, and your cpu is toast.
