Exclusive Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2H AMD 780G board review
Last year, in Jan 2007, AMD/ATi has a successful launch of their integrated DX9 graphics core, the RS690. The chipset performed well and had a good head start against it's competitor the NVIDIA MCP68 series. In fact, the AMD 690G has created a miracle in 2007 as one of the most successful integrated chipsets for the AM2 platform.
The Gigabyte GA-MA78GM-S2h is the next generation IGP board supporting AMD AM2+ Phenom/ AM2 Athlon64 series processors. With the integrated DX10 graphics core. Based on the AMD 780G + SB700 First DX10 UMA chipset on AMD AM2+ platform. It supports PCI-E 2.0 graphics interface with ATI Hybrid Graphics™ support. 6 SATA 3Gb/s & RAID 1, 0, 0+1, 12 USB ports.
This board comes with the capability to display outstanding quality and playing back of HD contents with the best audio capability of the Realtek ALC 889A codec. The Realtek ALC 889A audio codec with DTS Connect support, features 106 dB Signal to Noise ratio and enables Blu-ray and HD DVD high quality Full rate Lossless Audio playback.
The rear I/O back panel also comes with D-sub port, DVI/ HDMI port, SPDIF out, eSATA port, USB, LAN, 6 audio jacks and 1394
For overclockers, there are options for you to adjust the multiplier, cpu clk, ram timings, voltages and also the GPU CLK.

Nice review!
That was a very good review. It would be great if you could compare the benchmarks of the 780G with the new Geforce 8200 chipset. And later add the 790GX and Geforce 8300 boards to the comparison.
I ask for this given that those boards are to be the next solution for HTPCs. I'm planning on building an HTPC; I took the decision to buy a Geforce discrete graphics card. What I would like to know is if I can mix an NVIDIA discrete GFX with the 780G and 790GX IGPs. Not mix as in combine performance, just use either one depending if I'm gaming or just watching a movie. But if the Geforce 8200/8300 IGP chipsets get better reviews, then I'll know what to buy.
Many reviews fail to publish the core temperatures of the chipsets as well as the overall power consumption in idle, normal and full load use. Since AMD is bragging about the low power consumption of their new boards, I just want to see how well they do against NVIDIA's.

You can use a NVIDIA card on the AMD 780G board. There is no issues at all. AMD chipsets are relatively much cooler than the NV equivalent.
