At Computex Taipei 2008, ECS introduced this new board 945GCT-D embedded with an Intel® AtomTM processor which is claimed to be the smallest processor in the world. The 945GCT-D motherboard features fast Ethernet, high definition audio for various internet applications and leverages integrated GMA950 graphics core supporting DirectX 9 for general graphics requirements. In addition, the ultra low voltage and smallest size make the 945GCT-D motherboard an ideal solution for fan-less embedded systems, small form factor PCs and portable devices.
The 945GCT-D motherboard is based on 945GC/ ICH7 chipsets and has a 1.6 GHz Intel® AtomTM 45nm processor directly mounted on the motherboard. The brand new AtomTM processor packs more than 47 million transistors in a single silicon die measuring less than 25mm2 and full compatibility with existing x86 solutions, also equipped with
Intel HT technology which provides the better capabilities while in a multi-tasking The low-power architecture of the processor is targeting at portable battery-operated applications such as mobile internet devices (MID), low-cost laptop PCs. With this ultra low-power processor, the 945GCT-D motherboard is capable to keep the system quiet and stable even without any cooling fans.
To satisfy a wide range of home applications, the 945GCT-D motherboard is derived from a Mini-DTX design which is not only a perfect match for home devices but also compatible with current ATX and Micro-ATX PC cases. This innovative design provides great convenience for general users to build their own tailor-made personal computers and small footprint appliances such as the Embedded PC and Thin Client.
Despite the tiny dimension of the board, the 945GCT-D motherboard is well equipped without any compromise such as the 512KB L2 cache, Fast Ethernet port, high definition audio, 2 x SATA3.0 Gb/s, 1 x PATA, 4 x USB 2.0, 2 x DDR2 533, 1 x PCI and an additional PCIe x1 expansion slot.
This board should be suitable for a small UMPC for DVD playback or pack in a small package to be used as a CarPC.
