Benchmarking

We conduct the a number of tests on the setup with the following configuration :

Test System:

  • AMD AXP2700+
  • Epox 8RDA+ running 2 x 256M DDR400 in Sync DDR333 CAS2,2-2-5
  • Maxtor D740X-6L ATA133 7200RPM
  • AOPEN 40X CDROM 
  • Gigabyte GV-R9500pro, Catalyst 3.0
  • Chaintech GF4Ti4600, Detonator 41.09
  • Channelwell 375W AMD Approved PSU 

Madonion 3DMark2001SE Build 330 and Overclocking

Before we test the card, we ran powerstrip and we found that there is no way we can adjust the core and memory clock. Looks like Gigabyte also locked the card to prevent overclocking. We understand that there are some hacked BIOS out there but they're not tested with this card before. As this is a loan board, it would not be advisable unless we get explicit permission from Gigabyte to mod it.

 

Just like we predicted, the R9500pro seems to be quite a good performer. In fact, if the price is right, R9500pro poses a threat to the GF4 Ti4600 too. From the chart, we can see that the Radeon9500Pro is just 6.98% slower than GF4 Ti4600.
