ASRock 4CoreDual-VSTA Review Benchmarks - POV RAY

Benchmarks - Pov Ray

Point of view is a rendering software which is CPU bound. Mathematical calculations are extensive to create stunning 3D objects and graphics. As most of the calculations are in the CPU, no matter how fast your GPU is, it will not help at all.

PovRay 3.7 Beta 14 has been upgraded to support multi processor support. The internal benchmark allows you to take advantage of multi processors to do rendering.

Again, we benchmark the boards with the QX6700 and see how many pixels per second can it generate.

The Gigabyte GA-965P-DQ6 + Intel QX6700 is able to generate 2677.07 pixels per sec (pps) and required 667.62 pps CPU time over a 262K pixel image. As for the ASRock 4CoreDual-VSTA, we can see that the performance isn't that bad too. In fact, the difference between the DDR and DDR2 is negligible.

That is a 81% jump in performance of the QX6700 against the X6800 when we enable all processors/threads to take part in the rendering process.
