Conclusion

The SP-4100 is somewhat an interesting device. It is either you like it or hate it. With its polished white surface, it definitely blends well with the Mac environment. When you first install it, there will be a sound which is normal. The CD must be installed and it will detect the SP-4100 as a USB audio device.

We did a test on the audio capability and found it to be ok. In fact, the volume control on the side of the SP-4100 can be tuned up/down. As it is like an extended Speaker/MIC device external to the PC/Notebook, you can use it for Audio conferencing using Skype or Yahoo messenger together with your colleagues in a conference call via VOIP.

One thing that I noticed is that SP-4100 speaker is mono sound. It might be a better idea to have stereo sound. The drivers is also limited to Win and Mac platform, the linux users are out of luck.

The SP-4100 is definnitely one of the innovative products of the year. If you use a busy business executive and hate to make voip calls speaking to your notebook mic, SP-4100 is the solution for you.
