ASRock 4Core1333-eSATA2 Intel P31 Mainboard Review  - Conclusion
Bluetooth 7 Sep 2007

Conclusion

ASRock has delivered many interesting boards in the past with older chipsets. Never have I thought that they have a board based on P31. My experience of this board is positive as it is ready to run the most demanding jobs without the sacrifice of speed as it fully supports the newest CPUs and DDR2 moudles ou there.

As we have already mentioned in the introductory pages, this board has all the necessary ports that most users would need. The inclusion of 1394 will definitely appeal to DV users. eSATA is still using the old method of chaining one of the SATAII ports to the backplate through a SATAII cable.

The board has some overclocking features with adjustments of the CPUCLK, ASync settings, ram timing adjustments, voltage adjustments. You can check the gallery for more details. We were only able to get our E6300 to 333x7. Anything beyond that, the board just couldn't POST. I suspect it could be a bios issue rather than a chipset limitation.

In terms of performance, the board did well in the tests in comparison with the only p35 board we tested.

In conclusion, this board is one step up from the 945GC boards. If you are budget conscious user who wants the speed and support of P35 but not willing  to fork out so much cash for a board, this board might suit your needs.
