Review Conclusion
of
ECS G45T-M2 Inlel G45+ICH10 mainboard Conclusion
The ECS G45T-M2 seems to be aiming for a mid-low entry level market. Compared to Gigabyte G45 solution we tested before, this board is somewhat pale in features. We cannot deny that the performance of both G45 boards tested seems to underperformed when compared to the ASRock G43 board. In terms of 3D DX9 and DX10 performance, the G43 and G45 chipset doesn't seem to differ too much in performance. Although the G45 is suppose to do better, the G43 board we used could have been o/c in the iGPU, resulting in an inflated score which even outpaced the Gigabyte G45 board running a QX9770 in some tests. Features-wise, the board has a number of options already pre built in the chipset and on board. There are also 6 SATA II ports supporting raid 0,1,5,0+1. There is also GbE, HDA etc. Although there is no direct displayport nor hdmi. ECS has packaged a converter that allows you to hook up the board to a large screen LCD TV equipped with HDMI (HDCP) port. As for CPU overclocking, the BIOS do have options to set the CPU Freq of (200~500MHz), async memory settings and very basic voltage options for the vdimm. There is no multiplier control. See gallery for more information. In our test with the max CPU Freq, we managed to POST at 400MHz but we later find out that it still runs at 333MHz x 7 irregardless of the setting. We were using the first official BIOS downloaded from the ECS website. In conclusion, the ECS G45T-M2 seems to be a simple, ready to use board. It is recommended for those who just want a working system without any fuss. There aren't many fanciful features like Wireless LAN, eSATA, Data Encryption or, DDR3 support. That also means that board should be priced very competitively low to other flavours in the market. If play back of HD movies is your primary reason for this integrated board, then this board is definitely worth considering as it's capability of playing back of HD movies in H.264/VC-1 with lower CPU utilisation probably matters more than anything else.
