Introduction

In the demonstration, Intel prepares two notebooks, one based on Centrino and the other Centrino 2. Both notebooks were unplugged from their power source so that the notebooks are powered by battery pack.

Although there mentioned that it was to demonstrate how the centrino can handle Blu-Ray, a WMVHD 1080p clip was used instead. Anyway, we shall see that the whether it is blu ray or wmvhd, the centrino 2 still outperforms the earlier generation of centrino not only by lower power usage but lower cpu utilisation.

According to the speaker, the centrino 2 is able to outlast the length of a 2.5 hrs hollywood movie. The Centrino 2 takes < 30 % CPU utilisatoin in WMVHD while the older centrino took > 40% while playing back the clip.
