Intel launches Intel
Tolapai SoC 4 chips in 1 solution integrating memory controller, south bridge,
tdm and processor into one chip
Introduction Today, Intel launches the Tolapai SoC solution. Tolapai is a 4 chip in 1 solution for the new levels of performance, power efficiency and complexity vs. traditional SoCs. It integrates rating memory controller, south bridge, TDM and processor into one chip This new solution is timed with emerging need for persistently connected Internet devices that requires better connectivity for the Internet and a broad range of embedded, voice and security applications. Intel foresees that the future is internet centric with 1.2B mobile internet users and 100M TV watching Internet TV by 2011. That would translate to a substantial requirement of embedded devices with the capability to do all these. When it comes to Connectivity, 100Mbps Wireless by 2013 and Gigabit Ethernet is a norm. Hi Definition, Encryption, Multiple communication would require such direct connectivity. The amount of subscribers to 3G/4G/Wimax will also grow to 1.4B in 2012 at a 33% annual growth rate in Asia Pacific. Intel finds this bridging gap which requires a powerful enough and yet small size System on a chip to serve these purposes.
