Samsung UltraTouch S8300

Last year, Samsung introduced a full touch screen 8 mega pixel camera phone PIXON (M8800). Although it has one of the best functionalities among the line up, it lacks a slide out keypad for text entry. The UltraTouch S8300 fits the bill where it can function as a standalone touch screen device or by the keypad.

The UltraTouch S8300 shares a lot of similarities to the Pixon M8800. Both are 8 megapixel camera phones with Dual LEDs for flash. The UltraTouch supports 4X Digital Zoom, Face Detection, Wide Dynamic Range, Geo-tagging, Smile Shot while the Pixon supports a 16x digital zoom.

As for the display, the UltraTouch S8300 uses a 16 million WQVGA AMOLED display with a resolution of 240x400. The external display size is 2.8". The Pixon M8800 on the other hand only has a 262K QVGA TFT display but with a larger screen size of 3.2" support 240x400.

In terms of memory size, the UltraTouch S8300 has a smaller memory footprint of 80MB while the Pixon has 200MB. Both supports up to 2000 Phone and USIM contacts. Both phones support up to 16GB of MicroSD.

The UltraTouch S8300 has weighs 105g and has a smaller footprint of 110x51.5x12.7mm in comparison to the heavier Pixon at 122g and has a size of 107.9x54.6x14.9mm

Battery life wise, the talk time is 1.8 hrs (3G), 3hrs (2.5G) and a standby time of 185 hrs (3G), 200 hours (2.5G). The Pixon on the other hand has a longer talk time and talk time of 4 hrs (3G), 7 hrs (2.5G) and standby time of 280hrs (3G) and 310hrs (2.5G)
