GeForce 8800 - Reality Redefined As the first DX10 GPU, it promises more reaslitic 3D display and environments. This is especially in line with the upcoming MS Vista to be launched earlier next year. Another key feature on the GF8800 is the Lumenex Engine which supports FSAA at 16x and a 128 bits floating point HDR with anti aliasing which gives twice the precision of previous engines. To off load the CPU from handle some of the processing, GF8800 takes over the job for Hair algorithm on the aspect of physics simulation on control points, interpolating them tesselating them. These 3 functions on GeForce 7 is done on CPU. Shadow Algorithm features like skin and animate characters, save animated geometry to memory, find & extrude silhouette edges are now handled by the GPU instead of the CPU. Physics is also built in the GF8800GTX. Quatum Effects Technology uses the shader processor for physics computation delivering vivid visual effects like smoke, explosion, water flow etc.
